The Aurora Plastics Company made slot cars cool in the 60's with the HO scale ThunderJet slot cars. To promote their slot cars, they created a commercial-type track layout for hobby stores to set up and allow customers to try the cars. Some of them even appeared on popular TV shows as part of a sponsored championship competition for kids. These famous tracks were nick-named the "Tubbie Tracks" due to their shiny, tub shaped fiberglass design. These tracks were a famous part of slot car history with few still existing.
